The states of Nayarit and Jalisco share a beautiful region full of countless small towns, beaches, mountains and jungles to explore. One of those small towns is Sayulita, located only 40km north of Puerto Vallarta in Nayarit.
In this blog we will tell you some of those places, one by one, where and at what time you can make good photographs to take a beautiful memory and show the world these spectacular landscapes. We will start with the beautiful city of Sayulita, 40 km north of the city of Puerto Vallarta.
In the winter, sunrise is at 7:30am sharp. This time is perfect for taking photos of surfers, runners on the beach, yoga, and of the beach itself since there are few people. It’s also an excellent time to take portraits of people and families.
During the course of the whole day you can find beautiful places throughout the center, where you can take photos of its colonial and colorful architecture, cafes and shops, a large central square with many visual attractions, and of course gastronomic opportunities inside every restaurant.
However, the best time of day to take photos is at 7pm in the evening because of the lighting. This is the golden hour, the creamy light! For sunset photography, I recommend arriving to the beach at 6pm to find a good place and setup. Keep in mind that in Sayulita, the sun falls on the sea, to the left behind the mountains. There is the perfect spot to setup to the right of the beach to the north. See photos below.
If you have someone to take pictures of, it's the perfect time for it. Always remember to experiment with light in favor and light against to have different results.
This is also a great time for photographing surfers.
